Mount Krasheninnikov Erupts After Powerful Earthquake in Kamchatka
Kehidupan di perantauan • 5 Agustus 2025
Mount Krasheninnikov, located in Kamchatka, Russia, erupted on Sunday, August 3, 2025. This eruption is believed to be linked to the devastating earthquake that struck the Kamchatka region on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. This natural disaster was not only a local catastrophe but also drew international attention due to its widespread impact.
The Connection Between the Earthquake and the Eruption

Based on reports from RIA Novosti and scientists, it is highly likely that the eruption of Mount Krasheninnikov was caused by the massive earthquake that shook Kamchatka on July 30. This high-magnitude earthquake not only affected the area around Kamchatka but also caused Polynesian countries to issue tsunami warnings. The earthquake was also felt in several other countries.
Impact of the Eruption on the Environment and Aviation
The eruption of Mount Krasheninnikov produced ash clouds reaching extraordinary heights of up to 6,000 meters, despite the volcano itself standing at only 1,856 meters in height. This poses a potential threat to aviation in the surrounding area, given the risk that volcanic ash particles could damage aircraft engines and disrupt air navigation. In response, the Kamchatka Emergency Situations Ministry issued an “orange” aviation hazard code, indicating that flights in the area were at high risk. Several international flights crossing the region were diverted or canceled for passenger safety.
Olga Girina, head of the Kamchatka Volcano Eruption Response Team, stated that this eruption is the first confirmed one in the past 600 years. In an interview with the Russian government-owned news agency RIA Novosti, Girina revealed, “This is the first historically confirmed eruption of Mount Krasheninnikov.”
